We do not have a 24h reception and hence it is important for us to know your arrival time so we can welcome you. This can be communicated during reservation and thru subsequent email/communications.

 

Our check-in time is between 14:00-19:00, however we can plan for late arrivals i.e. self check-in, and try best to accommodate for early check-in. Check-out is at 11:00 and we have a secure luggage storage room for our guests.

 

In order to properly enjoy your stay in Terceira island, we do recommend for you to rent a car. It is easy and the best way to get around the island. There is plenty of free public parking near the guesthouse. In any case, we remain at your disposal to help organize other modes of transport e.g. Taxi, Bus.

Farol Guesthouse has a dedicated relationship manager who will contact guests directly to provide important information as well as be available for any questions or queries before, during and after your visit. We can provide assistance in Portuguese, English, Italian and German. 

House Rules

  • Smoking not allowed indoors.
  • Please keep our home secure and lock doors and windows when leaving the house.
  • Feel free to use the kitchen and grill but please clean up after yourself.
  • Pets are allowed subject to request during reservation
  • Please keep common areas tidy after use
  • Please use recycling containers on terrace after use
  • Pets allowed upon request.
  • Please do not bring strangers into our home. If you would like to invite a friend over, please ask first.
  • Please respect our home but feel comfortable. Treat it as your own house for the duration of your stay.
  • Please respect quiet hours after 10 pm.

How to get around

São Mateus is a tranquil village and easy to get around on by foot. However, if you are planning to explore the island, we do strongly recommend to rent a car. There is plenty of free public parking near the guesthouse.

 

The guesthouse has two foldable bicycles which can be used exclusively by our guests (extra charge).

 

Alternatively there is a public transport bus line just in front of the guesthouse; Bus lines 06, 141 and 100 with connections to Angra do Heroísmo, Serreta e Biscoitos. Please visit http://www.evt.pt/ for more information.

 

There are also Taxis available on the island that can bring you around (we can organize an airport pick up). A taxi ride to Angra will cost you around 5 euros. 

Guests have at their disposal a fully equipped kitchen that can be used during their stay. We also have a nice terrace with sea view prepared with outdoor furniture where you can relax and enjoy the view or even use the grill that is available to our guests.


The Guesthouse also offers a reception area with a small bookshop, a breakfast room and a safe area to store your bags when needed.


We also have a laundry service on payment.


We have 2 free parking spaces (depending on availability) and parking is free on the public road on Guesthouse street.

Another aspect to consider is that we do not have a 24-hour reception service, but upon request, we can organize self-check-in for guests arriving after 19:00.
